Book signing at Lorelei Books: A Summer of Birds: John James Audubon at Oakley House by Danny Heitman
In A Summer of Birds, journalist and essayist Danny Heitman sorts through the facts and romance of Audubon's summer at Oakley Plantation, located in Louisiana's West Feliciana Parish. It was there that he encountered an "almost supernatural" abundance of birds, an experience which began one of the most audacious undertakings in the annals of art. The book includes eighteen halftones, one map, and forty-six color illustrations.
Lorelei Books is joined by Audubon and Tara Wildlife Center in welcoming Danny Heitman to Vicksburg. Lorelei Books' author event coincides with The Spring Birding Weekend which takes place at Tara Wildlife Center. For more information and/or reservations, contact Tara Wildlife at 601-279-4261.
