Historic Downtown Vicksburg

With the influx of downtown residents, new shops and restaurants have opened. Browse Washington Street at gift shops, antiques stores, and boutiques and get a feel of the Southern charm of Vicksburg. Many carry local vendors that are perfect for a souvenir to take home. Don’t forget to stop at HC Porter Gallery or Attic Gallery to get a feel for our local artistry. After all that shopping, you will definitely want to drop into one of downtown’s delicious restaurants! Whether you are in the mood for steak, seafood or Southern fare, you can find just about anything in the district’s restaurants. You might have to stop by the Wine House while you wait on a table or sit at 10 South Rooftop Bar & Grill to take in the view of the Mississippi and Yazoo river valleys. On top of shopping and dining, you can also find a variety of entertainment and attractions in our downtown district. Downtown is home to five museums in a four-block radius and fascinating historical sites such as antebellum homes and the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. Head down to Catfish Row and unwind at the Children’s Art Park or visit the Vicksburg Riverfront Murals along the flood wall that depict the history of Vicksburg. Be sure to check our Calendar of Events for seasonal festivals, theater performances at the Strand Theatre and live music.
