The Siege
Vicksburg Battlefield Museum
Houses the Gray and Blue Naval Society Collection of models and the film presentation the Vanishing Glory. Includes the only diorama of the Siege of Vicksburg, the Vicksburg story as told by the civilians and soldiers, a collection of riverboat models and naval vessels.

The Vicksburg National Military Park
This magnificent 16-mile driving tour includes a visitor center with an 18-minutefilm, which recounts the Campaign and Siege of Vicksburg, and life-sized exhibits and artifacts are on display. The Cairo, an iron-clad gunboat, which was sunk by an electrically detonated torpedo (mine) in the Yazoo River in 1862, is on display in the park. The National Cemetery is located in the National Military Park, near the Cairo Museum. Over 17,000 Union soldiers are buried here, a number unmatched by any other National Cemetery. Established in1866, with the first burials in 1867, the soldiers buried in the Cemetery were interred from scattered locations in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Soldiers Rest
A section of Cedar Hill that was established by the United Daughters of the Confederacy contains thousands of Confederate soldier graves, who died during the Siege of Vicksburg.

The Old Court House Museum
Vicksburg's most historic building, was constructed by slaves in 1858, and has hosted such great Americans as Jefferson Davis, Theodore Roosevelt, John Breckinridge, Booker T. Washington, William McKinley and U.S. Grant. Exhibits and artifacts help tell Vicksburg's story in this National Historic Landmark structure.

Southern Cultural Heritage Complex
This cultural center tells the story of the Sisters of Mercy's 132 years of educating the children and nursing sick at the Saint Francis Xavier Academy and Convent. Listed on the National Register of Historic places, this center showcases the original school 1830, a hospital and barracks during the Civil War.

Christ Church
This church is the oldest building for public assembly in Vicksburg. Bishop Leonidas Polk, who later was a Lt. General in the Confederate Army, laid the cornerstone. During the siege, Rev. W.W. Lord conducted daily services in spite of the shelling.

McRaven
Featured in National Geographic Magazine as the "Time Capsule Of The South." See a 1700's kitchen, completely furnished home with museum quality antiques and with cannon damage from the Siege of Vicksburg visible inside and out.

Evening excitement can be found at Vicksburg's four casinos: Ameristar Casino, Horizon Casino, Isle of Capri Casino and Rainbow Casino. Enjoy a carriage ride in downtown Vicksburg, a walking ghost tour or a sunset cruise on the Mississippi River aboard the Sweet Olive.
