VICKSBURG
OUTDOOR RECREATION

Whether it is nature viewing, fishing, hunting, golfing or picnicking you want, Vicksburg offers it all.  Warren County, in which Vicksburg is located, lies between three rivers, the Mississippi, the Big Black and the Yazoo.  The Southern hardwood bottomlands, and surrounding lakes and woodlands combined with Vicksburg’s position on the Mississippi River Flyway allow for some of the nation’s best birding opportunities including the majesty of bald eagles in flight at Eagle Lake.

Be sure to check our Calendar of Events for special events at Tara Wildlife, an 20,000-acre privately-owned nature preserve located near Eagle Lake.  Avid golfers, bring your clubs.  Vicksburg has courses for you!  In town, you won’t be at loss for space to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. There’s Riverfront Park, Vicksburg City Park and Pavilion, the Children’s Art Park Splash Fountain at Catfish Row and the Vicksburg National Military Park.  Our campgrounds and RV parks feature all the modern amenities.

For expert advice on birding and nature viewing be sure to stop the Audubon office and gift shop on Washington Street.
