Wow!  Is it Really 2018?

It is hard to believe that 2017 has come and gone.  It was a year filled with special events throughout the city of Vicksburg. Here is look at the some the great things that Vicksburg will be presenting in the first few months of 2018.  This list just hits some of the highlights.  For complete up-to-date information you can always visit our website calendar of events.

Keep in step with your resolution to get fit at the 10th Annual Chill in the Hills.  You can do the 10K run, 5K walk or 1-mile fun run through historic downtown Vicksburg.  Chill in the Hills is January 13, 2018.  This race is super challenging and always has a great after party!


Two great Mardi Gras celebrations are scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2018, in historic downtown Vicksburg.  First, the Downtown Vicksburg Mardi Gras Parade begins at 4:00 p.m.  You still have time to get a crewe together and join in the parade.  Second, get ready for some gumbo!  The Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation presents the 7th Annual Carnaval de Mardi Gras and Gumbo Cook-off.  Gumbo aficionados will vie for bragging rights as well as some tasty cash prizes!  It all happens from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Southern Cultural Heritage Center Auditorium and along Crawford Street.  This is a very kid-friendly event! 


With the coming of Spring comes the 39th Annual Run thru History on Saturday, March 3, 2018.  Make your way through the awe-inspiring serenity of the Vicksburg National Military Park.  After your 10K run, 5K walk or 1-mile fun run get ready to enjoy the music of The Chill.  This year guests can enjoy bus tours of the Vicksburg National Military Park and enjoy reenactments after the race to immerse themselves in the history of the battlefield.  


Be sure to also look out for information on Spring Pilgrimage, RiverFest, and the Alcorn State University Jazz Fest. There is always something fun to do in Vicksburg:  The Key to the South!
