Vicksburg Community Clean-Up Day

The City of Vicksburg has partnered with Vicksburg Main Street, Visit Vicksburg, and the Rotary Club of Vicksburg to host a Community Clean-Up Day on Friday, April 22 at 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Join us at Washington Street Park, where we will work together to help clean approximately 10 square miles of Vicksburg (approximately the size of JFK Airport), many of which serve as gateways to our visitors.

Headstone Cleaning

Located within Vicksburg National Military Park, Vicksburg National Cemetery is the final resting place for over 18,000 U.S. Veterans — 17,000 of those being Union Civil War soldiers — a number unmatched by any other National Cemetery.

Working alongside NPS preservation staff and Park Rangers, volunteers will use a special cleaning solution to return each historic veteran headstone to its brilliant white color — just in time for Memorial Day! What a fantastic way to celebrate National Park Week 2022!
