It is the official start to summer in Vicksburg as we get ready for some of our biggest productions!

The summer season brings back the Guinness Book of World Records’ longest running show Gold in the Hills for its second run this year. The show will be at the Parkside Playhouse starting June 4 on Fridays and Saturdays through June 19. The Sunday show is June 13 at 2:00 pm. Cheer the hero! Boo the villain! Presented yearly since 1936, Gold in the Hills features a relentless hero, a winsome heroine, a ruthless villain, beautiful can-can dancers, and the wilder side of city life in the infamous New York Bowery.

Vicksburg Second Saturday is also happening all summer with July 11th and August 14th event dates. Bring the family for live entertainment, shopping, dining, arts, and so much more to downtown Vicksburg.

Make plans for Vicksburg’s Juneteenth Heritage Festival on Saturday June 19! The event will be from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm at the Vicksburg City Park & Pavilion, 100 Army Navy Drive. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Freedom” with live entertainment, arts, crafts, and food vendors, educational workshops, financial workshops, civic engagement workshops, and Historically Black College and Universities workshops.

Later in June, Vicksburg will host contestants and family from the Miss Mississippi Competition for a week of activities. On Monday June 21, the annual Miss Mississippi Parade where contestants will cruise downtown along the brick-paved Washington Street. Pageant preliminaries begin on Wednesday June 23 at the Vicksburg Convention Center. Crowning night is Saturday June 26, and the winner will represent Mississippi in the Miss America Competition. Celebrate our nation’s birthday on July 4th at Vicksburg’s riverfront with live music by The Chill followed by a fireworks extravaganza! Be sure to set up your lawn chair and picnic blanket early for good seats to a grand show set overlooking Vicksburg’s beautiful riverfront. From live music concerts to boat parades to shopping sales, Vicksburg has everything you need to celebrate our nation’s 244th birthday!

Great activities in Vicksburg are in full swing from splash fountain fun to exploring the Vicksburg National Military Park to the Vicksburg Farmers Market. We have so much to do to celebrate that school is out! Check out many of our camps and kid’s programs from Tara Wildlife Youth Camp to Warner-Tully to Southern Exposure Camp. There is so much for kids to get into in Vicksburg this summer!
