Key to Family Fun Trip

If you are looking for a fun-filled family outing Vicksburg has exactly what you need. Load up the kids and head down Highway 61 or I-20 for an experience your family will never forget.

Day 1: : Check into your hotel or bed and breakfast and get ready for an adventure. No trip to Vicksburg would be complete without a tour of the Vicksburg National Military Park. The good thing about bringing your family to Vicksburg is the amount of history they will learn while enjoying time with family.

The Siege of Vicksburg was the turning point of the American Civil War and is considered by many historians as the most significant battle of the Civil War. Make sure to watch the orientation film and then enjoy a tour of the beautiful sites where the battle took place. Your kids will love all the cannons and rolling hills and you will revel in the history that took place here.

After your tour, go out to eat a delectable dinner at one of our hometown restaurants that will evoke sweet dreams for the whole family.

Day 2: Get ready to make some lasting memories with the kids! Head to downtown Vicksburg where there are 6 museums within walking distance. Make sure to stop by the Biedenharn Coca Cola® Museum where the very first bottled Coke® was produced in 1894. Enjoy a bottled Coke® or a Coke® float with the family because it is the “real thing.” The Old Court House Museum is a Vicksburg favorite. It houses artifacts from Native Americans and the Civil War to modern-day collections. The Old Depot Museum is a transportation museum in an old train station. Take the kids to see trains, ship models and model cars all housed under one roof. Don’t miss the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum which offers a glimpse at what life is like along the river through both interactive and static displays, then head across the street to the Catfish Row Museum which features an ever revolving display of art exhibits. Visit the Vicksburg Civil War Museum containing an impressive collection of Civil War era memorabilia.

Once you finish all your touring, enjoy fun for the whole family at Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi! The park includes zip lines, mini golf, food trucks, and professional quality fields. Visit Vicksburg’s B&B Movie Theater and enjoy the plush reclining seats while you watch the newest family film. Head next door to Fun Lanes for a night of bowling, or skate like its 1984 at Big Wheelie. This is a perfect way to end a fun and informative trip with the kids.
