The Southern Cultural Heritage Center is an affiliate of the Mississippi Museum of Art. This cultural center tells the story of the Sisters of Mercy, who, for 132 years, educated children and nursed the sick at St. Francis Xavier Academy and Convent. Tours showcase: the Cobb House (circa 1830), the original school and hospital barracks during the Civil War; the Gothic Revival Convent (1868); the Italianate Auditorium (1885); and the 1937 Academy, Listed on National Register of Historic Places, Mississippi Landmark.
