Trolley Rules & Regulations (Revised 2023)
The City of Vicksburg, Mississippi owns a 30-passenger Trolley with wheelchair positions which is to be used for rental use by the public and for special events by and for the benefit of the City of Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, Vicksburg Main Street Program, and the Vicksburg Convention Center. The trolley is for the purpose of providing transportation to and from events and tourist destinations for the clients at the Vicksburg Convention Center, for programs provided by the Senior Center, special events sponsored by Main Street, and activities that benefit tourism authorized by the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau.
1. All requests for trolley availability must be made in writing by emailing the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (VCVB) at trolley@visitvicksburg.com, the completed Trolley Reservation form. The form will include:
- Name of Requesting Party (authorized representative)
- Date of inquiry
- Name of group
- Number of attendees/tourists
- Where the points of stops and starts will be
- Times of pick-ups and drop offs
- Reservations will be filled on a first come, first served basis and must be confirmed within 72 hours of making the reservation. If the reservation is not confirmed within three days, the reservation will be canceled.
- The Trolley Reservation Form must be completed and signed by an Authorized Representative and emailed to trolley@visitvicksburg.com. Once received and approved by the VCVB Executive Director, the VCVB Executive Director will sign the form and email back to the Authorized Representative confirming the trolley reservation. If the reservation form is not signed by the VCVB Director, the reservation is not confirmed or scheduled. If the reservation is confirmed, all required deposits/payments must be received within 7 days. If a required deposit is not paid within 7 days of the confirmed reservation, the reservation will be canceled and the VCVB Executive Director shall notify the Authorized Representative. The Senior Center is not required to pay a deposit or any other fees since this is a program provided by the City of Vicksburg.
- Changes or additions to Trolley schedules and times need to be made through the Authorized Representative and the VCVB. Times of departure and return need to be accurate. If multiple trips to a single location are requested, this must be noted. An address of each stop is requested in case the VCVB needs to provide directions to the driver.
- At least a week prior to the Trolley usage, the VCVB Executive Director will e-mail Authorized Representative to receive confirmation of times and emergency contact name and cell number. If the information has been provided on the original reservation form, another contact may be requested. The Trolley driver’s name and cell number will be provided to Authorized Representative confirming reservation details.
- Reservations and cancellations need to be made in writing and emailed to trolley@visitvicksburg.com at least 5 business days prior to requested service. If a reservation or cancellation is made less than 5 business days in advance, there will be a $30.00 fee assessed to the Authorized Representative. The $30.00 fee also applies to no shows.
- The Trolley cost to authorized groups is the hourly wage for the driver and the Federal mileage reimbursement rate for privately owned vehicles to cover the cost of fuel and maintenance. Each user will be assessed a minimum of a two (2) hour charge.
- Alcoholic beverages, glass or open bottles are NOT allowed on the Trolley at any time. Riders need to be made aware of these regulations by an Authorized Representative.
- Trolley special event use for a city-wide or major event will be recommended by the Director of the VCC, the Director of the Senior Center, Director of Main Street, and the Director of the VCVB to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for approval. This type of service needs to be negotiated and approved during the planning stages of the event. For city-wide events when multiple properties are being used, the expenses will need to be covered by the event for the use of the Trolley. Each property will be given a schedule of Trolley times.
- Should the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Vicksburg have an event or need for the use of the Trolley, they will work with the VCVB for scheduling. There will not be any fees applied to the Board and the use shall be approved in the Official Minutes of the City.
- The Trolley may be booked for private use by the public. The following rules apply for private bookings:
- The Trolley must be booked at least two weeks in advance of the appointment.
- No schedule changes can be made 48 hours before an appointment.
- In the case of inclement weather (i.e., rain, heavy rain/thunderstorms, snow/ice and very low temperatures) the event will be subject to cancellation. Rain and weather cancellations will be determined at least 2 hours before an appointment.
- The trolley must be used for a minimum of two (2) hours and shall not exceed eight (8) hours in one day. The price includes the cost of the driver, gas, and mileage used during the event.

All payments will be made through the City Clerk’s Office. Checks must be made out to CITY OF VICKSBURG. Receipts will be shown to the VCVB for proof of payment.
- All private parties agree to the following rules of use for the Trolley:
- The Trolley is only permitted to travel within a 25-mile radius of the City of Vicksburg.
- No food, drink or alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the Trolley.
- No pets are allowed on the Trolley.
- Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
- Groups must always remain seated. No one will be allowed to go aboard or leave the Trolley while it is in motion.
