Once referred to as “the art park of the world” by an aging Civil War veteran, Vicksburg National Military Park is home to more than 1,400 monuments and memorials. This one-of-a-kind historic site offers visitors a chance to appreciate hundreds of meticulously crafted monuments, tablets and markers – many of which were constructed prior to 1917 – while learning of the vital role Vicksburg played in the American Civil War.
