Desserts and Sweets in Vicksburg, MS

The best things in life are sweet, and in Vicksburg, MS you can find an abundance of delicious desserts to enjoy while you explore the downtown area. Here at Visit Vicksburg, we’ve compiled this guide to help you discover where to find these delightful, Southern treats.

A Taste of the Good Stuff

The Mississippi Delta is known for its delicious desserts and you can find many of these delicacies in and around the downtown area. After you’ve finished exploring the Riverfront Murals, stop by Divine Do-Nuts for a doughy treat to round out the evening.

If you’re a fan of Coca-Cola®, the Biedenharn Coca-Cola® Museum is a must-see. After you’ve learned all about America’s most popular soft drink, stop in the rehabilitated candy store and office area to sit for a mouth-watering Coca-Cola® float.

There is much to see downtown, and you’ll probably work up an appetite. Stop in the historic Walnut Hills Restaurant. This restaurant opened in 1980 as a round table restaurant, equal to an old-time, boarding house-style restaurant. The house where it is located was built in the 1880s. You can select from some classic Southern entrees, and then treat yourself to their pecan praline pie made with real praline pecan liquor. Their cake collection is to die for!

After a day of downtown shopping, you’ll want to pop into the Mad Baker for lunch and an afternoon treat to refuel your energy levels.  Known for their cinnamon rolls, their menu features an extensive list of Southern classics, and there is sure to be something for almost every palate.

Tour History While You Snack

If you’ve worked up an appetite after walking around the Vicksburg National Military Park, swing by the Gumbo Pot to enjoy some of their authentic Delta Catch, and finish off your meal with a White Chocolate Bread Pudding.

The 10 South Rooftop Bar & Grill features a stunning view over the majestic Mississippi River which played a pivotal role in the American Civil War. Enjoy the beautiful vistas while you bite into some salted caramel brûlée.

Dessert and the Blues

The Mississippi Delta is known throughout the US as the birthplace of the Blues. Once you’ve completed the Blues Trail, featuring several markers of significance, you can stop by Rusty’s Riverfront Grill for some key lime pie and beautiful views.

If traveling the Blues Trail puts you in the mood for some live music, you can visit one of Vicksburg’s casinos to catch a show and dine on some fabulous food. Don’t leave without trying a bite of something sweet at any of the casino eateries.
